Philosophy of Garden Design
Liaising with a client and involving them as much as the client desires enables Beverly to create unique designs, developed to suit an individual’s outdoor space, their surroundings, their property and most importantly their lifestyle.
The most successful gardens are those where the client has complete trust in their Designer. This is achieved by open communication and a friendly and professional approach by a Designer who will listen to you as well as talk!
The first stage is an Initial Consultation where your preferences, requirements and individual needs are discussed and where you have an opportunity to view a portfolio of work. It is important to provide as much information about yourself as possible at this meeting to ensure that the design will suit you, your lifestyle and your budget. The fee for the design work can be quoted at this meeting. This is followed by a full Site Survey of your existing garden and soil samples are taken for analysis. This is an essential first step to the design of your garden. Based on the brief a Sketch Design is then produced for discussion and to ensure that you are happy with the basic layout of the garden. Any adjustments can be made at this stage before the production of a fully detailed Master Plan. This is presented with a Specification to allow Contractors to build your garden. The final stage is the production of the Planting Plan which is accompanied by a Detailed Plant List and Maintenance Schedule to enable you to look after your new garden.
Design work can be carried out throughout the year whether you want to have your entire garden redesigned, want to revamp a single border, awkward corner or would simply like someone to visit your garden and produce a report on how you can improve what you already have – something that is very useful if you are planning to sell your house and wish to improve your ‘kerb appeal’.
